…..FLOATING MERRILY LIKE A DREAM

Tomorrow is a New Moon, time for initiation, time to start over, time to revisit those things that have been placed on the back burner for entirely too long.

I was reminded lately that a faithful reader is waiting, waiting for the “deluge of words” to use his phrase, and like the teacher in Ferris Buehler’s Day Off, I keep hearing “Buehler? …Buehler?…Anyone?”

Yes, I have been writing, but not for this blog.  I’ve been editing a novel, and believe me, don’t let anyone tell you it’s easy.  We’re on our third and hopefully final rewrite.

Okay, that’s enough for the excuses; let’s talk about the power of initiation.  Initiation means starting something, but it doesn’t have to mean starting it for the first time.  Initiation is nothing more than beginning a flow of energy in the right direction.

I wrote a blog post once called “Falling Upward,” and I have received numerous comments on this particular posting, a posting about personal failure and how to be empowered by it.

I suppose the reason why I get so many comments on this particular subject is because with our current economic state, we often look to ourselves as the source of our failure; failure to connect to the right job, the right people, the right revenue stream.  Then we get in the mode of do, do, do because we think if we do something about the situation, then we must be heading in the right direction.

WRONG.  I am a great follower of Jerry and Esther Hicks and Abraham, whom she channels.  For this skeptic metaphysic, I’ve had no obstacles in accepting the teachings of Abraham, and Esther, I believe is a divine human being.  Anyway, in their book The Power of Emotions, Abraham tells us that trying to control everything and worrying about everything is pretty much trying to row upstream.  I get this because whenever I am anxious, feel I must plan to plan, do something to do something or because that’s what my guilt complex tells me, I can feel the struggle of rowing upstream.

How easy would it be to let go of the oars, and watch the flowing current gently turn your canoe around and carry you downstream, merrily, merrily life is but a dream.  Okay, so the concept isn’t new, but this simple scenario brings peace of mind with each iteration.

Perhaps that’s because it’s easy to feel the difference between rowing upstream and floating downstream.  The act of letting go of the oars, the gesticulation, is a momentary ritual that offers respite, relief, and immediate emancipation.  Try it.  It’s a terrific exercise.

The constant self-flagellation driven by so-called “failure,” that, we know, is not failure at all (because I don’t believe in the absolute value of it), is rowing upstream.

Therefore, initiate the power of the downstream flow by starting something on this New Moon.

If you’ve been like me and put things on the back burner for so long you can’t remember where you left off, then begin again, as though it were the first time.  It’s amazing how much will come back to you when you allow the creative process to flow in and not try to control it.

If you need to go in a completely new direction, then initiate the new direction with a vision of what you want, and allow for inspired action toward that goal.  Again, let go of the oars and move in the direction of the current…and the current of energy that parallels it.  Have faith that the Universe will always bring you what you ask for, although it may not be in the form you expected.

If you are sending angst , fear and anger out there, the same is going to continue to inhabit your world.   NO KIDDING.  Worry, fear, anger and guilt LOVE to keep fighting the current and will prompt you to row upstream every minute of your life.

As cliché as it sounds, I don’t believe in failure.  I believe in the opportunity to go in a different direction.    I think feeling guilty for not accomplishing something keeps you from accomplishing it.  STOP BEATING YOURSELF UP!  I believe that gratitude for the smallest of blessings brings you joy that comes back to you a thousand times.

During this coming holiday season, begin the power of initiation…..again, let go of the oars and float downstream, and let gratitude guide you to become one with the current.

Still chasing the light,

Yanggirlygirl and her Shadow Self
